    Malevolent Creativity & Security

Understanding how emerging technologies influence security threats

    Problem / Research Question

How do emerging technologies like AI and robotics create new security threats — and how can they be used to defend against them?

    Why It Matters

Rapidly evolving technologies change the threat landscape faster than policy can keep up. Engineering-informed perspectives help security practitioners anticipate and counter misuse.

    What britelab Is Doing

This research explores the intersection of emerging technologies and security, investigating how advances in AI, robotics, and communication technologies can be both catalysts for and defenses against terrorism and other security threats. The project applies systems thinking to understand complex threat landscapes and develop proactive countermeasures.

    • Map how emerging technologies create new threat vectors
    • Develop frameworks for proactive risk assessment
    • Inform policy on technology governance and national security
    • Build interdisciplinary teams bridging engineering and security studies
